Pushed Too Far, Even Frankel Will Stumble

It doesn’t take a horse racing fan to recognize that Frankel is an extraordinary horse. A horse of this calibre is more then just a perfect anatomical design. It takes a passion, a drive to win that only some horses possess. But here lies a danger, too. Give in to the passion, let the horse take over and there lurks exhaustion and injury.

The Sussex Stakes victory was unusual in the way the horse was allowed to lead from early on by a massive margin. This goes agains the usual jockey convention of holding the horse back in the beginning of the race to avoid early burn out. The danger here is that the same eagerness to see the horse dominate will take over training and preparation.

Make no mistake, if the trainer and owner let the fame and greed go to their head, injury will strike and Frankel will stumble.
